Found on the corner of Ave H and Hwy 281 near the Visitor Center, this piece was commissioned by Highland Lakes Creative Arts in conjunction with the Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce. "Past Present and Future" was created by local artist Father Jairo Lopez, who was a priest at a local Catholic congregation at the time of completion.
Father Lopez took pieces from the bridge over Lake Marble Falls that was built in 1936 and demolished in 2013 by a controlled explosion. (Click HERE to watch the demolition of the Marble Falls Bridge.)
Lopez has said the bridge structure symbolizes the past of Marble Falls, which has been utilized to make something new to celebrate new beginnings. Father Lopez added other design features, including wine bottles, which represent the new industries emerging in the lakeside town. The piece was donated to the City in 2013 to be on permanent display.
