The brainchild of Russell Buster and Dan Pogue, Sculpture On Main (SOM) emerged from their collective vision for a vibrant downtown adorned with captivating sculptures. Buster, a local business proprietor, and Pogue, a renowned sculpture artist residing in the area, conceptualized an initiative showcasing an array of sculpture pieces for public admiration. This innovative display not only enriches the downtown ambiance but also serves as a distinctive draw for tourists seeking artistic experiences. Since its inception in 2007, SOM has proudly exhibited over 100 regional sculpture pieces, with several earning a place in the permanent SOM collection. These compelling artworks now grace Main Street Marble Falls and its adjacent thoroughfares, each adorned with informative labels detailing the title, artist, and procurement information, offering visitors an insightful glimpse into the beauty and narratives behind each creation. The importance of public art in public spaces is evident in the transformative impact SOM has had, fostering a sense of cultural identity, community pride, and accessible artistic engagement for both residents and visitors alike.
Sculptures are wanted for public display along Main Street in Marble Falls, TX and around the downtown area.
A total of $750 in stipends is paid to the artist for a 24-month display.
City of Marble Falls assists in the installation as well as insuring the pieces during the display period.
A Street Fest featuring Sculpture On Main artists as well as Texas Society of Sculptors’ artists will be held downtown, as advertised in TEXAS HIGHWAYS and other publications.
